Life has been “hectic!” (I’ve noticed that South Africans love that particular adjective, so I hope that by using it I’ll sound more like a local).
Between another US team visiting (they were GREAT and built an entire house in less than 2 weeks!) and lots of progress with Made by Mosaic, I have been happily busy. I’ve even been on safari since my last post!
Made by Mosaic is growing quite quickly, and we even recieved our first official grant — from a South African bank — to help with start-up costs(R100,000- thank you, ABSA!) We’ve been recieving and filling orders, and just about one week past its one-month anniversary, the business is really starting to take on a life of its own. In fact, 160 of our handmade favors will be featured at the wedding of my dear friend and Mosaic Communications Officer Carine’s wedding this weekend, and I can’t wait to see them there.
Karen Baker, a long-time Hopewell member and President of Mosaic’s U.S. branch, recently visited and took plenty of photos of the knitted goods that the Made by Mosaic crew has crafted over the past several weeks. The photos also feature several of the children that live in Mosaic homes. I’ll share some of them here because I couldn’t possibly keep them to myself, they’re too cute!
Be on the look-out for Made by Mosaic’s first look book soon. The book will feature all of the products that are available for purchase so far.
And finally, there’s a rumor going around in Potch (started by Jen Lisowski herself) that Aunt Susie and the elderlies are planning a field trip to visit the Made by Mosaic headquarters- I’m very much looking forward to it!

Do you get “Top Model” in SA? These guys definitely have the model attifitude!
